Is this real? An antique guy is trying to sell it, saying it's an early perfume. He wants $500.

Looks to me to be very, very old and probably European. I have what I believe to be a traveling priest / father Holy Water flask that looks very similar as far as the glass itself goes, not the form. I posted pictures of my item on this forum some time ago. The color and patina are quite similar. I will be quite interested in comments on this piece. $500 for this item seems way steep to me. But then, thats an asking PRICE and not necessarly its VALUE.

Yes, the thing next to it is the stopper. I'm not interested in buying it, just posted for a friend who is looking at it for resale. It didn't look right to me but what do I know. I'll tell him not to pay $500. What do you think it's worth?

It looks like a very recent piece of glass to me (late 20th century at the earliest). Color, lip/finish, stopper, overall shape, all make it look like the kind of thing you'd find in an arty/crafty 'gallery' type shop.

I don't see any wear or ground area on that stopper, from being in the bottle. Normally it would have a frosted appearance, where it makes contact. The inside of the lip doesn't have that frosted look, either, from having a stopper sitting in it. Just doesn't "look" right.
I wonder if the guy who has the saddle flasks made, for sale on ebay had anything to do with this? Same type of work, in my mind.
