Hello I have 2 bottles i know are from the cellar of a 90 year old Italian lady she says these were her Papa,s he made his own wine.. they are still corked with contents inside
They Both stand about 13 inches high.not quite 3.5" wide , they taper smooth to the top .both have an inverted bottom about 2.5" in..there is no seam on either one .one appears green when held to the light and has a chip at the top rim, the other seems to be a darker green against the light..they both appear black when standing on shelf.. HMMMMMM. I WOUNDER WHAT THATS GONA TASTE LIKE. 90 YEAR OLD WINE. NICE OLD WINE BOTTLES. HERES A COUPLE OF MINE. HOCK WINES AND A REGULAR. DONT BELIEVE MY REGULAR IS VERY OLD?? HOCK WINES ARE A LITTLE OLDER. MINE ARE EMEPTY (DAMIT)!!

Hey Norma, And welcome to the forum. Those are standard wine bottles from the 1800s.
One looks pontiled and the other does not. The pontiled one could be older but pontiled wine bottles were still common late into the 1890s.

Thank You For The Information,and the welcom![:)] So I assume It Is Safe to just throw these away as they hold no real value ? I do Not Intend to Drink the Contents !![:eek:]

Don't throw them away, The value is in the history you have on them and they could possibly be black glass. Black glass is olive or amber glass that is so dark that very little light passes through. Alot of collector love black glass. Also some collectors love to collect bottles with the content.

I am only telling you what I see in the pictures.

Ok Thanks, Maybe I will put them om EBAY She could use the money right now and I have several other old whiskey and quack medicine bottles on there she also has down in the basement..so if anyone is interested..?
