Hi all -
I've been looking for one of these for a good while. It's a good local and the hard to find variation. Embossed in a tombstome shaped slug: O.P. HARE in arc over DRUG CO. then double shield with large H over PETERSBURG / VA. with small flanking rounded top thin sides. This sloping shoulder type is harder to find than the vertical embossed one. The only bottle I dug this past Sunday ...very close to being skunked.[:D] It's 4 3/4" tall.

A follow up -----

We went to a 22 acre site refered to from a golfer friend of mine earlier in the day. The morning site was a failure, but I had a photo showing many early shards of glass. So we checked it out. Next to a large pile of early glass I found a couple of camp pits. We dug some w/ a small folding shovel but filled it in kinda too soon, I think. After gathering many chiggers, I think I'll go back w/ some bug spray and a real shovel and check it out. Here's some frags: cathedral pickles and good clues.

The above druggist/med was dug at the later dig that day (2PM - 6:30PM). A lot of shoveling for one keeper. I did find a blue and white porcelain sign (soaking now) with INGERSOLL WATCHES debossed on it. I'll post a photo if interested soon.

Sweet druggist, Meech. That is a real beauty! Being a collector of embossed pharmacy poisons, of course I love colored druggists as well. Still looking for my first local embossed druggist from here. Some day [;)]. ~Jim

Thanks guys!

Jim, that local will come...Don't give up!

Warren - Grow up w/ what name? ....... Meech? [:D] ........or OP Hare?

Local druggists are overlooked and under rated.....I think. JMO

Shoot , I thought it said OPRAH there for a second, that's frightening.

You'all sure like them chiggers down in Virginia. I'm afraid to go digging down there again till winter.

That tapered lip looks like one off a nice Swaim's.

Hey Matt -
Funny you should mention Swaim's. I have a question posted for you on another thread.

I think this was the top to a sarsaparilla that was in pieces with it. Probably a good/rare one.
