I work at a landfill and found this bottle in a box of bottles and tchotchke. I found replicas online of the seal but, not the bottle with the seal.
I know it's a stretch, but, I figured one of you would be able to tell if it's a glaring repro or not.
Thanks for looking!

Welcome to the forum! I'm going with glaring repro on this one, unfortunately. The bottle just doesn't look like it's been around for that long, and I'm pretty sure bottles like this didn't have handles. The seal also looks about ten times too big compared to legit seals I've seen from that era. I suspect that this bottle came from the George Washington Birthplace gift shop and has been embellished to make it more appealing as a souvenir than an accurate replica would be.

Hello K42,

Well, there is some good news that may/ may not be obvious. Even as a repro it still has value. I'm sure the original buyer probably paid about $25.-$35., and you could get about half that at your next yard sale. Now, how about the rest of the bottles in that box?...

Welcome to our online community and we're all wondering if you brought enough for everybody of what's in the glass?

The rest was all meh, from the small knowledge I know about bottles from being in the dirt metal detecting.
Hopefully the real thing will come in one day!

"Keep digging and one day you'll strike gold." In the meantime don't forget the occasional lotto ticket. :)

... If you retire early you can become an antique dealer and sell off the meh. (You look too young to retire but don't worry it will sneak up on you fairly quickly.;))

At least you knew it COULD be a glaring repro and knew to ask. I'm sure someone might have quit the job and walked to the nearest pawn shop to make their millions LOL.

What a wonderful word: "TCHOTCHEKE".
I haven't a clue about the bottle but your post is definitely the post of the day!

Bohdan is right, great post and why this board exists,

LOVE your title. I always say I am waiting for my $ 50,000 marble, although that is not retireable money now, I have been looking for many years,

good for you for picking.
