I am just and showing off some of my collection I live on antique landfill 43 acres in Peru Indiana right on the nickel plate Trail I have insulators and bottles and marbles and anything you can collect I got if it don't biodegrade in our landfill so many cool things I even got the telephone poles with the insulators on them the whole pole lots of them .

If I lived on an old landfill, I wouldn't get ANYTHING done (responsibility wise).

Although it is neither glass nor pottery, I found the old corn planter to be the most interesting item in the photos. I suspect my father and his three brothers who also served during WW2* might have spent some time perched on such an implement, perhaps even towed behind the horse my paternal grandfather is holding in the photo below.

Grandpa Roy was a veteran of The Great War.

My late father in Germany about six weeks prior to the German surrender in WW2--he would turn twenty-years-old in less than a month.**

While Dad survived the war without physical injury, the same cannot be said of most of his photographs and souvenirs--this is one of only a couple I have that survive. His 163rd Engineer (Combat) Battalion saw significant action. They lost many vehicles to enemy shelling and Luftwaffe strafing, during which such keepsakes as the troops had stored in their duffel burned to ash.

Thank you, always, American Vets and allies through our history, but especially on Veteran's Day!

* Edit: My father was the middle of five brothers. The youngest brother was not old enough to serve in the war. **Edit: I was thinking the wrong month on date of the photo on first posting
