Ok, so does anyone know why this sold for so much? Was it the label? Or was it because it's a rare misspelled version of this bottle (C-158)- or combination of both?
I think this is the highest ever paid for any Clarke Bitters bottle. Can anyone check on that from past auctions?

well the first reason is it is a fleabay auction where outcomes are never predictable.
All it takes is for two people with deep pockets to want an item. It can quickly enter into the absurd.
Then there are the other reasons you mentioned...
