Just got a call from a guy that heard I was interested in insulators. He has a pile he estimates around a thousand insulators on his farm. He said his grandfather ran a scrap yard in the 1950's where he took a lot from the local utilities. He said they've been in the same place since the 50's or so. Going to head over there in a few weeks and dig through them. He says they are mostly clear hemingray from what he can see, but who knows what's buried beneath it all. Could be fun regardless! I'll snap some pictures when I get there.

Could be promising, could be a bust. You just never know till you see it. That's what makes it fun!

That appears to be an interesting site, I didn't go far into it but typically recyclers do not want insulators, for what reason I don't know. There may be an exception here.

Well, after an hour of digging through the tangle mess of insulators with wire still attached, 8 million mosquito, and a ton of poison ivy, it appears the pile was all common Hemingray clear 42, 17, 9, etc. Oh well, it was fun.

Sorry this didn't work out this time but keep trying. 50 years ago, while training to be a Fuller Brush Man, door to door cold call sales, my trainer told me something that turned out to be very true and I believe the priciple applies to this sort of quest. He told me: "The average sale takes 10 presentations. Your goal is to make that 11th presentation, ignore the ten refusals". So I say: "Forget this 'Failure' and move on to the next opportunity". It WILL pay off, eventually. Truly I've learned in 73 years, "There are no problems, only opportunity to overcome". Attitude is EVERYTHING.

Keep in mind that it only takes one of those common clear with a "MR" above the HEMINGRAY embossing to have youself an $800.00 insulator. :)

Good Hunting
