I found these 2 at a local antique store. One of the people that worked there had a relative that was a doctor and found the Ramons box in his truck after he had passed. It is from Greeneville Tn. The Garret is manganese and has an early valve mark on the bottom. I was wondering its age. It has a monogram of a grape vine inside a horse shoe shaped ribbon? Above it is an eagle. It says
GARRET & CO.
Virginia Dare
NORFOLK, VA.
ESTABLISHED 1835
REGISTERED TRADE MARK
REFILLING PROHIBITED
During prohibition Garret would take the alcohol out of their wines and sell it in extracts. Thus they could still use the alcohol and not lose money and sold nonalcoholic wine. Pretty interesting marketing move.
