I have a buddy that bought a late 1800's home a year or so ago. He's open to digging the privy but we're not sure where it would have been. He's found some older ariel maps but the outhouse is not present on them. I dont want to invest in a probe since Im not planning on digging any other privys right now. Do you guys that dig privys usually find metal in these pits as well as bottles? I could borrow a metal detector and I have a general idea where the privy was probably located. Ive never dug one and just not real sure how to find this sucker. Any thoughts?
