I have not been able find any info on this guy. Was wondering if any of you search gurus could come up with anything. Vorden is pretty much just a road intersection today.
Well surface you strike again. This piece came out of a dump probably not far from where that picture was taken. Interesting that he is listed in Walnut Grove and not Vorden, they are very near each other. A fire burned the Chines quarter of Walnut Grove in 1915, they rebuilt in the town of Locke just down the road. Makes me wonder if my jug is before or after the 1915 fire. Of interest is a piece of another jug that didn't make it.
Actually the first pic in black and white IS of Vorden, the second pic is of Locke. Vorden is about three miles from Courtland where I live, and Locke is about seven further down the same road. all that is left of Vorden is the road sign at Vorden road and River road, plus a few pilings in the river. There are a few old photos of both places in the courtland post office, plus they show up at the gymnasium on easels during the Courtland Pear Fair if anybody wants to see them. Tin Sang operated a general store in Vorden sometime around the turn of the 19th century...........cool jug by the way!!
