Thats good news, my three also have rough pontil scars.Thanks for your reply. I know many of the bottles are reproduced. I am fairly confident mine is original given the rough pontil plus it has been in our family for 3 generations. Part of a fairly extensive collection started by my grandfather and I am age 79.
Clevenger Brothers used the original molds and pontil marks. Their bottles tend to be a little heavier than the originals and sometimes different colors, so it takes a lot of experience to tell the difference
My flasks have little to no wear on the bottomA real 1840's bottle will often have a lot of wear on the bottom high points.
