Got this from a lady this week when doing some remodeling in her old home . Was in a crawlspace in her ratty old basement with a bunch of other crap . She did`nt want it so on my shelf it goes . .
Says " B. A. DE VRIES & Co Ltd " CAPE TOWN
And thats all i know ...............

Yeah that is strange how it got here . So is it water or soda or ?
Looks to be a dog or horse head on the front .

Its a codd bottle - no big mystery there. I know nothing of the brand. Most of these are imported from Europe but South Africa may have had European connections.

It is a soda water style of bottle. As discussed on other threads, some of these are still used in places around the globe.

It's a rather stylised wolf or dog's head. "B.A. de Vries & Son; exhibited at S. A. Industrial Exhibition 1884. Became a Limited Company 1901." from Bottles & Bygones by Ethleen & Al Lastovica.
So bottle dates to after 1901.
