A friend of mine said that this was a rare bottle because it had an advertisement on the reverse of the front label. Anyone ever seen these before? Looks to be about an 1890s era hand blown bottle. [/align]

Hi again, this may or may not have been common at the time. Finding them now is uncommon. From what I can find Gilbert &Bros of Baltimore made both the products so it would be a great marketing tool and probably wasn't unheard of. I'd keep that one until you at least find out more. It's very cooooollllll!!!!!!

Hi Dan and welcome. Didnt you used to post some on a different forum?

Those ads on the label reverse sides are uncommon but you see them every so often. Mostly I have seen them on later 1890/TOC stuff.

Yes, Matt I used to post on the Treasure Depot but there was never much participation there. Looks like this Forum has a lot more activity. I look forward to posting here and learning more about this great hobby. I've always welcomed your comments and appreciate what your book has done for me in learning about the medicines that I have found. I have used your book over and over to help make bottle purchases. Thanks again.

Cool, I'm glad people find the book useful.
This forum is the best one I have run across for bottles. There are some real experts here that I have learned quite a bit from.

Gilbert Bros made quite a few different medicines. The liniment was sold in those large oval long necked flasks that you see quite often.
They even sold a smoking cure called ANTI-FAG in an amber bromo-looking bottle.
