Another renovation find...an old bottle with pills still inside with cotton inside the bottle as well. Probably 150-200 pills inside the bottle. Label has mostly come off, but part is still there. I can make out "Newark NJ as the location" and various other letters but i cannot put 2 and 2 together. I am looking for age and what's inside. Screw top lid...perhaps aspirin?

*If it helps, the bottle came from under a floorboard of a building that was erected in 1903 and used as a doctor's office and drug store until about the 1950s (estimate).*

A good closeup would help, I blew it up as best I can here. It could be aspirin or something less flush-able. It may contain a mercury or other compound which should best be taken on a hazardous waste day. Interesting for discussion but basically worthless.

I am pretty sure that is an aspirin bottle, probably a Certified from Newark NJ and would have had this information on the front:

Interesting. Thanks for the update Crozetian. Is the name of the company "Certified" ? I have goggled aspirin bottles and cannot come up with anything. What do you think for the age Crozetian. Thanks!

I think it is The Certified Aspirin Corporation, Newark, NJ .. circa 1939.

Thanks Crozetian. I think you are right on this. I looked up the company but cannot find any information. All I find are the "tins" and not the bottles so it may be quite rare.
