My son picked up what appears to be a jar lid. It is milkglass , 3 5/8" across the outside diameter. 3 1/8" across the inside diameter where it fits over the lip of a jar.
It has the "ledge" on top of the lid where the jar band would sit to hold it down and it is tapered on the outside diameter edge.
It has a logo of intertwined letters , J N F Co. and the word Boston.
Wondering if anyone knows what it is off of. Or has seen one before.

Pictures are attached.

Thanks

Thank You for the reply. Even though I just have the lid , could you tell me what the complete jar is valued at ?
Also , does anyone have a picture of the jar they could post.
I'm interested in what it looks like.

Thanks

That was just what Red Book states and the #. I could mention it says 50-75$ and the closure is 60-75% but that means nothing. It also stated a brown jar with ground top but that may be the jar it was found on when reported.
Myself, I think they were nondescript jars and the lids were the only part that was made and marketed by the company and for use, perhaps as replacement lid for the next season of canning.
I also think, if the book has the name right, it was more like a large general store than a coffee company.
Something like that.[:)]

It may be a nondescript jar in your book, but I find it quite attractive with the original label. The jar itself is completely unembossed, but the label gives proof positive of what the jar looks like.
