I have a several of these NDNR Mt Dew bottles. I wish they were worth that much, but unfortunately they aren't.
Sometimes Ebay is used for money laundering. Some of the ridiculous prices it looks like people pay could actually be to launder illegally made money so it can be recorded as income, or it could be someone selling drugs.

In my experience they are FISHING for suckers. These are by no means rare and are found quite regularly by many folks just searching surface dumps. Can't blame someone for trying, but you can ask whatever price you want for a bottle. I wish I would have saved it, but I saw a GROLSCH beer bottle on feebay and they were asking $5000 for it I recall correctly. These are still sold in most liquor stores. There is also a buddy system that exists on feebay where there will be sales of these listings. Those are fake in that the seller will either have a buddy or a second account. They use that to make a fake sale to justify their asking prices. The sale is fake and never actually takes place. Very sad and fortunately if one watches feebay regularly they can spot these losers. Going to shows and hanging out with bottle collectors is the best way not to get stung and see what an item might actually have value. Collecting friends is the true treasure.
Yes. I agree with you. People are just trying to exploit the hapless buyer out of their money for a $6 bottle (at most). I have seen those "buddy" deals you are talking about. You can tell by looking at the wording and picture, almost identical. LOL. Only someone who is completely clueless and has no sense of the value of "antique" bottles would be duped by these. My advice to those who don't know the value of a bottle: do your research, ask questions here, and know what you are looking for before you think about selling or buying a bottle on eBay. You won't catch me buying a bottle on eBay. Hell, I might sell a few Pepsi bottles from the 70s on eBay, come to think of it...but no, I can't do that to people, not in me.

We found this one a few weeks ago.
So I found this bottle on a new site a few weeks ago. It is listed on eBay for $700 down to $200. Is it really worth that much? There looks to be over 1000 bottles on the site so I'm excited to get out there.

I found a dozen of them in the woods one time.
It is a neat bottle for the 1960's I sold them $15 a piece.

There actually is a Mountain Dew NDNR bottle which tends to sell for absurdly high prices when it does show up for sale, but it is not yours.

I'm surprised that they're bothering to lower the price on that Ebay one, I wonder if they really are so clueless that they think it's valuable or if they're slowly resigning themselves to hoping for a slightly more reasonable sucker to come along.
one in a auction right now. https://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/3583306.html

I was sure it wasn't worth more that $10 to $20 (tops). I was just wondering how someone could expect to get an outrages amount for that bottle. I'd appreciate the real value. Thanks!

I actually own a variation of this bottle, made in 1967 and still unopened! But their bottle is definitely overpriced, and I remember messaging the seller about it. Of course I never got an answer.
