I'm not a bottle expert, What would you call this one. Dug this out of the dirt of a 1860's hillside dump. Thought the bottom was dirty so tried to rub the dirt out. Is this what you'd call a Iron Pontiled? What kind of shape or bottle was this. Got a bee hive ribbed shape to it. What is it? A bitters bottle? THANKS, LEON.

Yes it was a bitters bottle. They are called Barrel Bitters and are extremely collectable and usually expensive. They also come in quiet a variety of colors. Yes that is an iron pontil. Hope this helps.

Yes, it would appear to be an iron/graphite pontil, and though I'm not sure of the size, it is a "barrel" shape. It could be bitters, liquor, etc. I'm sure someone with more bitters experience can help you out. Either way great find and hope you find more of it, and a few whole ones.
