Hey Bellemeister, welcome to the bottle-net!

The J-in-a-keystone mark on the base of your bottle says it was made by the Knox Glass Bottle Company of Missippee, in Jackson, MS. They were in business from 1932-1953.

I think your viniagrette idea is about right; It looks like a balsamic vinegar or salad dressing bottle to me.
