Need help with early bottle

Hi everyone. My sister found a box of bottles at the town dump and she brought them home for me, as I collect. Some neat bottles but nothing really special except for this one...

It looks early to me, hand blown. No markings on the glass but there was an old price sticker for $65.00 and another saying "circa 1680-1725" not sure if this is right or not but I'm having trouble finding any info on this piece. Anyone know anything about this bottle? Thanks

It's called a MALLET and is worth at least $100 in my opinion. The date on the sticker is approximately correct, perhaps 100 years early. Others should have more specific information. Congratulations!

Thanks for the info so far. Knowing that it is a mallet style has helped. So any idea where it might have come from (Europe or USA?) and what do you think it held? Wine or ale maybe? Thanks again.
