Hello Jeff,

I'm betting it's a Carl Mampe. Often marked with "Berlin." A lovely German Bitters. Great color, and a variant I've not seen before, but I don't hang with the dyspeptic Deutchers so much.

Here's a lovely green sample:
smalcarlmap.jpg
] " 1/8 " tall, squat square body with a long neck, BIM, smooth base with a square collar lip.. Very nice yellow green glass that has loads of whittle and crudeness to the glass. Embossed, (motif of walking) " Elephant / CARL MAMPE / BERLIN " A nice sample German bitters bottle with no damage at all." From.

Here's another variant:

From.

We almost had a discussion on Mampe, back here: https://www.antique-bottles.net/forum/m-266836/mpage-1/key-/tm.htm#266939

Check out Lot 836 at this Auction House.

"Impressed mark, dated around 1910 on a Jugendstil
bottle, manufactured by R. Hanke, supposedly designed
by Albin Müller. The family of Carl Mampe, had a large
distillery at Hallesche Straße 17 (SW11), Berlin, and also
owned several restaurants, all called "Mampes Gute
Stube", the most prestigious of which was at
Kurfürstendamm 14/15, Berlin." From.

Just for info on Carl Mampe bottles. While researching this on some german sites I found out that Mampe didnt start using the elephant as a logo until 1951! Just thought I would pass that on.

Hey Jeff,

My German is non existent, so I normally don't check the German sites, lessin they have photos. Did those Teutons really say 1951? I hope you straightened them out.
