Long Twist was a Nehi product after the company lost their lawsuit with Coca-Cola and could no longer use the word "cola" in Chero-Cola. It was likely a cola drink to fill the void until they introduced Nehi Cola and later R C Cola.
I looked and found my Chero Cola and sure enough they look similar and the Chero is even from Columbus Georgia like the Long Twist. Thanks I appreciate the info! Floridabottledude
Hey.. now.. I think it's time for show and tell!.... Looks like some killer bottles back in the back there... lets see some pics please! Looks like you have a awesome collection and nice display! Great Bottles!
I found 2 long twist- Columbus,Ga. under the same building. I gave 1 away and kept 1. Looks just like yours. I thought they may have started from Pepsi. They look similar to the swirl Pepsi.
No they are a Nehi product. I had the information from when Nehi trademarked the name somewhere. I became interested in the history of the brand when I first laid eyes on one of these. I was able to finally pick one up about a year ago. The Columbus GA on the bottom gives away it's origin.
While researching I found an article about a bottler who had a long twist franchise, and it was stated that the brand didn't do very well at all so he decided to start selling the brand in 12oz bottles, and according to this article, this was where Nehi got the idea to rename it Royal Crown Cola in 12oz bottles. Not sure how much of that is truth, and how much legend, but given that these aren't just crawling out of the woodwork I'd say the failed product line would hit close to the mark.
