I was just thinking today that I need to toss the digging tools back into the truck for the season.

Heck Yeah! I'm so glad winters over I've been going mad from not digging, I've had the Goodwill and antique stores for finds, but it's just not the same as digging, I've been out to a few of my dumps, the ground is still mostly frozen. So far this year I've found a lot of interesting pottery sherds around sandy shores near the Wallomsac river, including finger printed Kiln furniture from a 19th century pottery. Not much for bottles but I'm just getting started.

I went digging today and got frosted out , still four inches of frozen earth. managed a clear ink , a castoria and a bromo.

At least you are out there. We have been out here and there went to NJ to dig privys a few weeks ago. It was a bust. Found a few pits with slip wear shards but that was it,they were all cleaned out dipped clean. We met up with NYdigger "mike" he was doing some metal detecting,no luck there so he opened up shop to get some coins. [8D]

Just got back from my best dump for early 1900's bottle a little less frozen this time but I still couldn't get very deep dug a Carters master ink and a Warners. The biggest kick in the teeth was I'm pretty sure I felt a pottery jug under the earth it was still frozen in the ground and I figured I'd wait until it thaws so I don't end up breaking it if it is whole. I can't wait until it's 100% thawed.

I'm so pumped up for this year, my first real year at good digging and knowing what to look for. I talked to a couple of locals today and I have permission to dig a few spots, 2 old farm dumps and a foundation. It's gonna be awesome.
