Greetings: Just located an 1880's era embossed BIM, E. Hedge // New York. Arched panels on front and back, sides are embossed , lip is applied and prescription type, Heel shows hinge mold marks, base is polished semi-smooth. Any Help would be appreciated, Thanks.

looks to be post Civil War but pre-1880. Applied prescription type lip, stretch mark twisted neck, seam end well below top of shoulders, whittled arch panels, front and back, semi-crude embossing, uneven heel, smooth polished base. Any help would be appreciated on what this product was used for. Checked The Medicine Book, no luck under embossed name, def. had labels.

Listed in Knapps's book priced at a conservative $5-10. These bottles with no further embossing could be any number of different products and likely meant to be sold with a wider distribution than a local prescription type. If not on a nationally based distribution, I would guess at least state wide. Looks to my eye to be 1860's to early 70's. Love that gloppy top but base pic too shiny to make much out of. Still a nice find in my opinion. Jack
