36 shelf clips, 9 pieces of glass, a tape measure, cordless drill & 1/4" bit would double your display area... Looks great now but you have alot of under utilized space IMHO... [;)]

Fantastic suggestion! The display looks great presently, but adding tempered glass shelves as Jim suggests would bode very well for the expansion of your collection. I might recommend avoiding the shelf clips and metal runners and just drill out sockets for the fitting of wooden dowel pegs used to support the shelves. This way there is no metal hardware taking away from the rustic and natural visual appeal of the display. My father made china cabinets and whatnot in this manner so his style rubbed off on me. Whatever the case, Jim is spot-on, you should be able to double the display space offered by that unit without sacrificing anything.

That's exactly what I meant Plum, I use clips like this, they would be virtually invisible and require just a small hole like the dowel you suggested...

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding. Now the 1/4 inch drill bit makes more sense, lol. Those certainly look far better than metal shelf brackets and would be easier to use than dowels one would need to cut and stain/polyurethane.

I use them here, they work great and I prefer the glass sitting on plastic as opposed to the metal ones just like this...

my DH actually brought up the wasted space, but I really loved the shelf so we got it. I will see what he thinks, we had discussed that when we buy a bigger house to put it in the front room, but the longer it's in my office, I'm thinking I wont be giving it up :)
