Just for curiosity sake , how does one go about making a secure deal with a seller in a foreign country?
Do you use an intermediary service?
How do you insure a valuable item like that?
I assume the party on this end has to pay the customs fee?
I haven't done much international dealing. Certainly nothing of that value.
its not difficult, there is pay pal, bottle recorded tracking postal services.

paypal's user description is a bit vague but it sounds like it says they only provide buyer protection on items bought through the ebay system? Maybe i'm not reading it right.

Insurance is also very difficult to get for breakage if items are glass or ceramic. It usually only covers loss, as I found out recently to my cost [:(]

Having said that I've had dozens and dozens of trades / purchases / sales both ways across the Atlantic over the past ten years, and only had the one disaster. So the risk is small IMO.

A friend of mine bought this one from an elderly lady who had several average bottles and this one was in the bunch, but she'd done her research and was aware of its value. He did buy it, and was still able to flip it for a decent profit. So, there are two that we know of out there. The only one that I know of sold by GWA was in his very first catalog auction back in the 80s, which sounds like the one being offered here.

I know someone in new York that has one I am trying to buy but he is a tough seller, he said maybe this winter he will sell it to me.
So this makes three. I am pretty sure there are some more but just hidden away in collections.

I hope it was recently enough that there's still a chance. I've seen in-continental here take 3 or 4 weeks, never had one just go missing though as a buyer or seller.
