I haven't checked up on what the historical archy types have been up to lately, so I looked around and found that they've been semi-busy. Thought that y'all might wanna check up on them too:

Lots'a historical African-American sites are gettin the trowel treatment. Slave village uncovered at battlefield in Frederick, MD.

"Two archeology students from the University of Tennessee sift through soil samples looking for any trace of the slaves that lived and worked on a property known as Indian Camp near present day Ballsville." Here's the rest of the story.

They're diggin at Timbuctoo, NJ, too. Excavation of sites such as Timbuctoo, N.J., is helping to rewrite African American history.

They're going underwater more & more:

"Underwater archaeologists from Tidewater Atlantic Research moved their boat into position over the York River shipwreck early Wednesday morning. The survey is expected to last two days. (Mark Erickson, Daily Press / August 19, 2010)" The story.

Interesting reader feedback on this Hunley story. & more Hunley news & comments.

Could it be the USS Scorpion under there?

I went through Antietam once. I think we had stopped there for a moment for some reason. I would not have thought to look for anything. It's all farmland there, but it's like it's frozen, or just, pardon the expression, dead. It has a very "old" feel there.

Cool post surf!
Makes me want to dig a hole for something other then to fill it with concrete.
But...the truth is,that I get paid to dig holes, then I buy glass with the money. So,in reality,I am digging for bottles[8|].But then again,it's been a long time since I've dug my own footing.
Man I hate it when life gets complicated[&o].
