Hi all
Haven't posted in a while. Not that we haven't been out.
But thought I'd share a few I got last night
Dennis (hunter2000) or hunter2k texted me to say he was gonna do one of his infamous night digs and if I didn't hear from him by 10 o'clock to start worrying
Being alone for the night I inquired if I could tag along
Not long ago I purchased a couple small flashlights and they came with a free headlamp. I knew exactly how I was gonna use it. This would be the initial use
So I met him at the site, it wasn't to dark yet and he was in a hole him and another digging buddy had been alternately digging
So I studied the terrain trying to find a good spot that hadn't been dug
First I got a couple screw top Vaselines
That wasn't very encouraging Then a couple TOC slicks Getting dark time to don the headlights. Water is a huge problem at this spot. What comes out of the holes is runny mud. Dennis was stretching his legs by my throw pile n found a clear cone ink that had rolled off a pile My first decent find of the day
Don't know if many have tried the headlight digging but it's interesting to say the least
Here's a group pic

Nice finds Gary...that is one odd trade mark "potatoes" -That's Maine for ya. I went on one night dig because I thought I'd get another pontil from it. Just commons that night. Anyway, looks like a good site to dig. Is it unavailable during the day for some reason?

Gary!!,...Good to see you posting here again,....Love that Murphy's bottle the best,..The underwoods is cool too,..Is that what's referred to as a "doorknob" ink? Penn Digger (Tom) and I have done a few night digs...For various reasons...Usually there was a time deadline involved (Hole getting filled in the next day due to ongoing construction, or one time the property was going to new owners the following day) and we were still finding good stuff... Thanks for posting your finds.

Hey Gary,

Welcome back. Nice night dig results.

Next time, I wanna see action shots with illuminated headlamps, please. Would those be good for Flashlight Tag?

Does that that nice Underwood's have double pen rests?

"Murphy's Balsam - Edward W. Murphy, Portland, 1888

For 10 cents you could stop that cough with a three ounce bottle of Murphy's Balsam. the Murphy brothers (E.W. and T.J.) were retail druggists; and if you dropped by their establishment, you could also refresh yourself with Murphy's Root and Herb Bitters and pick up a package of Murphy's Famous Fly Paper!"
