NY Patent ink bottle

Hi there.

I picked up this interesting 'teakettle' shape ink bottle from ebay.com recently.

The base is embossed PAT JULY 13th 1880 which pinpoints the bottle to this design....

The bottle is aqua glass, the colouration is just dry ink.

My question. Is it considered a rare item over there ?.. I have never seen one over here before.

I can't tell you anything about rarity, or value, or anything else, but I sure do like it. I also like the color the ink gives it.
