My friend gave me a jar to find info about. the seam goes to almost the lip...and then a wavy seam goes around the top. the lip of the jar feels smooth...so i dont think it was a ground lip. there are hundreds of air bubbles in the glass...some really big. The bottom is embossed with " FAHNESTOCK ALBREE & CO" any info?

I think you've got a nice friend. If that's all that's embossed on the botton it should be either Red Book #970 or 971. The first being OP and the next IP. $150 +, for either in RB 8

A photo would sure be helpful... By the way, is the top a circular glass ring that would likely seal with a cork, or is there a groove around the top? How big is the crack? From where to where? How noticeable?
