Crawling through the mud and briars of Eliot Maine
After a couple of hours sifting through shards at one of my old spots, I tried to brave the bugs and bushes and look for a new spot. About 50 feet from the road in the briars, I found a pile of modern garbage, old tires, trash, etc. Laying on the ground, just barely buried was this MINT Redwing crock/ water cooler! It looked like it had been there just 10 years or so. It had 2 other crocks inside it, common ones, not in good shape. It has a spicket hole, and a hole closer to the top ( to fill it ?). It is hand thrown, and has a big red wing on it, but not the stamp. Plus the cool number 15. Anyone know any Redwing experts? I'd like to get more info.
thanks, Bram

I can't believe that MONSTER was whole, you lucky dog. Looks like a good one to me, I've seen them go for about $150 in that size.

Yours must be a water cooler and I see one in this
antique book, looks diffent than yours and says water cooler
with a top. Hard to see the small redwing mark under WATER COOLER.
They show three diffent marks but don't date them (started in 1878).
Says with original spigot 3 gals
$695.00

Thanks guys,
yeah, I still cant believe it was just laying in amonst the trash out there. David, the books I have looked so far show crazy crazy prices for a 15 gallon "water cooler", but the water coolers in the book say "water cooler" on them, and they are bowed out ( they have a "belly"). This is a crock shape, but it was made as a water cooler. I'm trying to get info from a q&a section of a Redware pottery site on line. I"ll let you know if its good news or GREAT news
