My 2 cents worth is it is a cisterm. Note the cracking of the asphalt further away from the "puddle." The rest of the lot doesn't have any cracks like that from what I can see. I would be VERY careful as it likely is a beehive style, hence the cracked asphalt away from the hole. I think the guy was lucky there was an asphalt edge to pull himself out as well as water to the brim. Could have been disasterous. Still could be! Regardless, it is a hazard in the least. Imagine a small child riding a trike into it. Or a lone bottle digger getting stuck under the beehive edge, so be sure to have a buddy with a rope & a cell phone handy.....Jack
