Hi ~ I'm nearing the end of my brother's collection
and thought I'd see if anyone has any info on
these bottles which seem to be perfume/cologne and snuff type.

Some of the names on those that are embossed or labeled:
The Crown Perfumery Co London / Preston of New
Hampshire / Burnett Boston / {script} A A Tantinet (?) Co. /
Imperial Perfumed Salts Lavender McCormick & Co Perfumers
Baltimore MD / Lady Grey Perfume. One is etched: Saratoga
1886 on front with J. E. Bailey etched on back. It still has it's
contents ~ maybe smelling salts? One has an S on front ~
maybe snuff ? The rectangular one says Doct. Marshalls /
Snuff.

Any thoughts will be appreciated! Thanks! [:)]

Very nice collection. I wish I had a brother that collected bottles.
I think all the glass staoppers are salts.

The clear tear-drop shaped bottle with the embossed star-like logo is a toy nursing bottle circa 1900

Hi Eric..... $10 hmmmm? That sounds
fair..... not! Good try though! [:D]
You think the Preston of New Hampshire and
the Burnett Boston are both salts? Would the
Crown Perfumery (with the crown stopper) be
a salt ? Ever heard of the tall stoppered bottle
with the hard to read script pictured below?

Sorry, JustGlass.... no open pontil on the
Doct. Marshall's. How much do you suppose
it's worth? [8|]

Thanks for all your help! [:)]

The Preston definatly, it's Portsmouth Lavender Salts on my label. Maybe they made other flavors. I pretty sure I remember labelled Crowns as salts too.

All I can come up with is a possible AA Vantine + Co for the script. He was a big importer of Oriental wares so it doesn't quite fit the bottle.

Hi Eric......Thanks for the info on the spelling
of the scripted bottle. I googled it after you
were kind enough to discipher it and learned:

A.A. Vantine & Co.
Vantine's, the Oriental Store. New York
The company's advertising copy sounds very much like that of the upscale mail order firms of today, stating that the book "enables you to rest comfortably at home in your easy chair, and, at your leisure, select by mail, with absolute confidence, from the largest collection of Oriental goods in America." Offerings include not only toys, but clothing, perfumes, jewelry, and pottery.

I found an ad from 1916 that shows perfume bottles and notes that Vantine's was known for it's Famous Oriental Perfumery and it's logo has Vantines in the same fluid script, so I guess it's safe to assume this is a perfume bottle.

Thanks for your help! [:)]
