Hi, I am new to the forum and I was hoping someone could help me identify the bottle in the following pictures. In particular I am interested in it's possible use and potential age.To give some context it was found with some old wine bottles and glass fragments, most of which have been dated c 1860 - early 1900. Thanks, Jenna

It's hard to tell but I would guess maybe a sauce or food bottle. Hard to tell the age without a neck. I'll go out on a limb and say late 1800's.

Almost looks pontiled if you look at the impression on the base from the 9 to 12 o'clock position. Hard to tell from a photo though with all the heavy staining. I agree with Strong also that my first thought was a food or sauce bottle.
