Here are a few clear bottles Stony, Blade, and I recently dug from a pit that dated no later than 1850. 2 of the bottles look like they would be from 1880's but definitely are not. 1 is E Roussel Philada. the other is X-Bazin Egyptian liquid hair dye. The 3rd bottle is balm of a thousand flowers. The aqua is for comparison. Are these rare ?

Here is another strange one in clear from a 1860's to 70's pit. Dr. Fitler's Rheumatic Remedy Philada.

Roussel was a french immagrant. He bought his soda water bottles from Dyottville Glass Works but I wonder if he had his small clear perfumes imported from france?

You have to wonder why they would go to the trouble of making some of these low end medicines in clear glass when it would normally cost more than aqua and would have no apparent marketing benefit (allthough clear glass was generally perceived to be higher quality).
One theory is that companies normally making flint table ware, lab ware, etc. also contracted to make some bottles to suppliment supply. Since these glass houses were already blowing clear glass the customer would get clear glass at no significant increase in cost.

I havent seen a Fitler's in clear, they are somewhat plentiful in aqua.
I have seen a few of the clear balm of a thousand flowers.
The Helmbolds seem to be fairly common in either aqua or clear.
