Pontil? Age? Used for what?

I found this little bottle today and ask what might it have been used for and is it a pontil? Idea as to age? 4 inches tall and very rough. Thanks for your help

Looks like Open Pontil with rolled inner lip. I agree with Bruce on Dates. LEON.

Hmm. I'd say this is an 1850s vial often used for a medicament, perhaps a liniment.
