So, Putting a value on a bottle has been talked about several times. I wonder how the economy will affect the bottles that will become available due to the recession depression whatever, Winter and the oil & Coalman. For instance some of the older or should I say, diggers who've been digging longer. Do you remember how it went? Did the bottles stay in collections or become available. I'm a newbie with a little over 5 yrs We had some hard tiomes 10 or 15 yrs ago and hell the 80s. I really wish I would have know way back...... This hobbie is intoxicating

I've decided to trade this one rather then sell and help build the bottle kitty.
It has a really sweet color and so does the one I want......I'll put a pic of the one I want on next.

So I hope that a bottle comes available for everyone to put on the keeper shelf.
I'm not wishing hard times on anyone.....we're here..... Hec, in a hobbie where reward for the effort is sometimes not...... the pickin's are tuff.
This bottle screams natural sunlight... I have another pic I'll look for

I can't wait to become one of those senior collectors who remembers how bad it was back in the late '00's and early '10's.. those are the kind of stories that nieces, nephews, and grandkids just can't get enough of.. my grandma's stories about the great depression are permanently ingrained in my "most excellent tales" section of the memory dept..

From what I have seen, most bottles that are worth any good amount of money have been selling for 60% or less of historical values as of late. The US Medical Dept bottles I think are worth anywhere from $200 - $500 depending on issue, size, color, etc. But I couldn't tell you one from another. Just I know these are really sought after as they appeal to bottle and civil war collectors alike.

It hasn't seemed to me like the stuff I like on ebay has taken any particular hit. Stuff seems to ebb and flow. For example, an lochman's locomotive ink. One time, it'll sell for $1500. Another time, same condition, for more like $800 or $850. Seems to depend on who wants it. Also, with inks, it seems to me that the figural vs color thing comes and goes. At some points, the aqua but rare figurals command the bigger $. Then, suddenly, a few good colored umbrellas come on and just splash.

I don't know. Those hospital department bottles seem to me to ALWAYS command good $.

Keep your best or favorite bottles -- this isn't the time to sell your favorites...if you have to sell one of your best...that's understood.
