Another from Charlotte NC on Reggie's site...

Coca-Cola / CHARLOTTE, NC
Green tinted glass, height 7 1/2", crude ABM with crown top, front and back embossed "Coca-Cola" on shoulder, front embossed above base with "CHARLOTTE, N.C." in rectangular slug plate, back embossed above base with "PROPERTY OF COCA-COLA / BOTTLING CO. / D.O.C. 8-1", base embossed "Coca-Cola", excellent condition and very clean with only problem being a light scuff mark that shows in PIC - no chips/cracks, would tumble to near mint condition, item #C306, For Sale $50 at Granddaddy's

Jim ~

You stinker. I was thinking the same thing and presently researching the Bottle Makers website when your notification came through. But you beat me to it! Good job! [sm=thumbup.gif]

D.O.C ... (Dominick) O. Cunningham Glass Co., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (c.1882-1931). A prolific producer of soda bottles, especially hutches. The mark seems to be seen primarily on handmade bottles manufactured (generally speaking) before about 1910.

PS ~

I wonder if the ...

11 stands for 1911 (When the bottle was made). ???

and the ...

83 stands for c. 1883 (When D.O.C. was established). ???

However ...

If the 1913-1914 Gould admendment to the Pure Food & Drug Act ties in with the fact the bottle is embossed with ...

"Contents 6 1/2 Fluid Ounces"

... then the bottle would likely date closer to circa 1914 or later.

Oops! I forgot to paste this part ...

The 1913 Gould Amendment requires that food package contents be "plainly and conspicuously marked on the outside of the package in terms of weight, measure, or numerical count."

Enough Conspiracy Theory!

Enough Conspiracy Theory!

D. O. C. stands for Dominic O'Connor Cunningham and was a glass bottle manufacturer in Pittsburg. Any numbers would have been mold numbers. D.O.C. did not date their molds but the numbers increase over the years; i.e. a 404 is older than a 1213 probably by a few years.

And the cap pictured at the beginning of this thread is relatively new: 1970's or newer.

Thanks for all the help guys. I found this bottle as well thats basically the same thing. Take a look at the listing, if you look at the cap carefully you can it appears to be the same one.[&:] It's almost all rusted off but you can still see some of the markings.
