I picked up this Ball jar and the script matches the 1910-1923 examples except mine does not have a tailed or dropped "a". It's also ribbed which I understand they started in in 1933-34. If anyone out there can properly date this jar it would be appreciated.

Heres what I found out about the end of the color:

Ball discontinued the use of their famous "Ball blue" glass in 1937.
They had produced and controlled this color since the late 1890's and
it was caused by the minerals in the sand they used in their glass
batch (which came from the shores of Lake Michigan) and also the
amount of oxygen used in the furnaces to melt the glass.

My jar has 8 ribs. The script is still odd.

I've never seen it either....is it rare? ...worth more than an un-ribbed one? -Julie

Here are a few I pulled from the display shelfs (I know I've got some blue quarts around somewhere), I've got a bunch more out in the storage container. They are overlooked at sales and stuff because most of the dealer heavy weights look for the older stuff. These are 288 to 288-6 and 290-5 to 292-5 or there abouts in the red book. The one you show is 8-10 in the book but I get them most of the time for a buck or so.

Ok guys here are a couple of my ribbed jars. From what I can gather is the clear jar must be the first year 1933 ribbed jar due to the script and also the ribs are flat on the top and bottom. My blue jar must be a 1937 due to the script (small a) and the last year of the blue jars. It also has rounded off ribs at the top and bottom. So Rush's Jar and Coreya's big blue jar must be 1934-1936 due to the larger a in the script. But then again this is all new to me.
