bucky902 Your bottle is possibly an import from Ireland. Ad from ... The Morning News ~ Belfast, Antrim, Northern Ireland ~ July 9, 1884 (This is the earliest date I could find. Perhaps the names will help you find more information)
I did some additional research and found a total of four different companies that used the wording ... Superior Lemonade All four companies were located in Great Britain and seem to be unrelated. The word "Superior" in connection with various brands of bottled lemonade seems to have been somewhat generic in Great Britain - Sort of like the word "Cola" is generic in the United States. I will post some additional information and pictures later. But for now is this picture of a paper label from Horsham, England ...
Oops! I forgot this link to a brief history of the Haiarn DWR Mineral Water Company, which is related to the paper label I just posted ... http://www.codds-n-odds.co.uk/haiarn.html
This link is related to the 1884 Superior Lemonade / Cantrell & Cochrane newspaper advertisement I posted earlier. After opening the link, notice that the paper label on the right has the word "Superior" under the word "Lemonade." And yet in the 1884 newspaper ad its the other way around and reads "Superior Lemonade." This is another example of the word "Superior" being used generically. I haven't researched this one either. All I know about it is what the accompanying description said ... (Stockton On The Tees is located in Northeast England) Description: A rare late 19th century vintage dump dug dark aqua glass mineral water bottle embossed T.WRIGHT'S / SUPERIOR LEMONADE / STOCKTON ON TEES with a large heavily embossed castle and anchor trade mark image at the centre. Two part mould manufactured with applied blob top with internal cork closure. Early dark aqua glass with slightly hammered look. There is a lovely 4" (10 cms) long air bubble to the back and some small air bubbles. Rare early Stockton On Tees mineral water bottle, which have only been found on tips dating 1885-1890, so probably dates circa 1885. Notice it is embossed with "Superior Lemonade" along the bottom
bucky92 So there you have it! Take your pick as to which of these companies your bottle might have come from - or it could be that its not related to any of them and is a separate brand altogether ???
