Just wondered if anyone has any info on this one. It is light aqua,BIM,whittle marked and fairly heavy glass. Embossed SIR DONALD OF THE GLEN/ BUFFALO,N.Y./U.S.A.No 1
Has what looks like knights arm holding a dagger or knife. Also has No.1 on the base. It is 3 3/4 by 2 in. Shape looks like a blacking or polish type bottle but I can't seam to find any listings in my books. Picked it up in a small lot of bottles from ebay just thought it was a bit unusual. Appreciate any info. Thanks.

Hey Cliff, I know who Sir Donald was { Sir Donald Currie }and the Glen is what he called his home { Glen Lyon but was origanilly Garth House }. He was a shipping tycoon in the 1800s.

Can't give any info on the bottle as there doesn't seem to be any that I can find.

Very neat bottle though.

Hi Warren,

Thanks for that bit of info, certainly more than I had before. I'm always watching for unusual embossed bottles. Fun to research old bottles, now I have more leads to follow. Thanks again. Maybe someday the unusual bottles will be worth something.
