Hello Everyone! I bought this bottle over a year ago and have not been able to find any information on it. It's a dark green, six-sided bottle with an impressed cross on the front and stands just a little over 10" high. I was originally going to give this bottle to my father, but didn't want to do so until I identified it. Does anyone know anything about this?

Howdy cowboy,

I think it's a Bénédictine. You might try the museum at the palace. They seem to have an extensive collection.

I think surf is onto something. Benedictine was my first impression as well. Haven't seen this style before and it has a lot going for it. Very nice! Jack

I don't know a thing about it but get the impression that it is 20th century. I do not care much at all about newer bottles, just not my thing, but I think that is a STUPENDOUS looking bottle. If it were / is 19th century piecde it would be / is worth a BUNDLE of "C" notes.

Thank you everyone for your input. My search will continue, but I think I'll start searching in the realm of monk produced liquors. If I ever properly identify this bottle I will definitely post that info.

very nice bottle. People often talk about these being newer, but, they can be very old. The link below is my very first post I ever made on this forum 2 years ago. Similar in color and size to yours but very different embossing and shape. Consider the fact that black glass onions and mallets have been around since the 1700's but black glass was still being blown in the 20's, more so across the pond.

Having mine for so long I have been able to do some research and now know of 4 of the ones I have being dug on the east coast from 1880's-1890's privies. They may be English but they are old.

After I was told $4 bucks was a good investment because I could probably get $8, I decided to keep it.

Yours has plenty of base wear as does mine. IMO they are old. keep it around
