Hi! Can anyone tell me if this Clark Stanley
Snake Oil Liniment bottle is common? I
can't find it listed in any of my reference
books and yet it seems like this should be
the epitome of old quack medicinals. Any
help would be appreciated! [:)]

I wouldn't exactly call it rare, but that ol' cowboy Mr. Stanley was the first, I believe, to call his stuff "snake oil" and I believe the term might have stuck after that to mean any ol' timey "quack" medicine. These bottles sell on ebay a few times a month and I have kept track of them. Here is what I have seen on ebay.

CLARK STANLEY’S SNAKE OIL LINIMENT (clear) 6 ½†uneven top minor dirt $46.00

CLARK STANLEY’S SNAKE OIL LINIMENT FOR RHEUMATISM AND NEURALGIA BEST HORSE LINIMENT IN THE WORLD (clear) 6 1/2" no issues $19.99 // no issues $21.06

The one without the embossing "FOR RHEUMATISM AND NEURALGIA BEST HORSE LINIMENT IN THE WORLD" seems to be the "rarest".

Thanks for the helpful info, Wil. I've just listed it on
eBay so we'll see how it does. Thanks again! [:)]

That bottle would typically go for about $25. I would consider it uncommon but not rare.
It is listed in my book.
