Problem with the moccasins is they'll stand their ground instead of running away.

Nope...I don't kill them...honestly always liked snakes. Like you said, they were all minding their business. I'm just learning to be a bit more aware when I am wandering around here in Texas.

Here's what we do with rubber boas. They make wrist bands and will stay there for days.

I always had snakes as pets when I was a kid.

Ball pythons, Reticulated pythons, Red tail Boas, rat snakes better known as corn snakes, wild water snakes, black racers, king snakes and of course garter snakes .

I had um all.The biggest was a Re-tic that was 15 feet long.
I am still here they didn't kill me. Snakes are extremely misunderstood. Some people go bananas and kill little tiny brown snakes. OHHH MYYY GODD!!!! AA SNAKEEEEEEEEE!!!!Those are the people I like to freak out and toss a big rubber snake at their feet hahahahaha! funny chit! Panic and run baby panic and run.[8D]

The one pictured above looked like a Cottonmouth Water Moccasin. Here's one I found in Georgia/Alabama border. After I released him from dump he then Climbed this tree. About 7 feet long. LEON.

Now thats one fella you don't want to run up on. My father in law is the foreman of a bridge building crew here in eastern NC. Few weeks ago he saw the biggest moccasin he's ever seen in his life. Was as big around as his calf muscle and he's a pretty big man.
