I picked up a few new bottles for my Kansas City collection in the last few weeks from a variety of sources. The pictures aren't the best, but there were some interesting coincidences in the group. The Mooney flasks are only 6 ounces, and not 8 ounces. Joseph was the son of H. Mooney. Some research indicates that dad's name was Joseph H Mooney. The family were grocers and liquor dealers. The J Rieger slug plate bottle is the earliest style known from that company. I bought the bottle on ebay and got it this morning. To my surprise, when I looked at the bottom of the bottle, there was the Interstate Glass Company logo on the bottom. ISG CO was open for less than a year. The plant was destroyed by a flood of the Missouri River at the end of May, 1903. It opened in June of 1902.The Becker Brothers bottle was purchased at a local show last month. I have looked for some stuff about that company and they were less than above board with their merchandise, shall we say.The run of Rieger bottles includes a half full bottle of the current company's product. J Rieger has a facebook page, look them up.The collection of 5 bottles are all from the Interstate Glass Company. Does anyone have any other bottles from ISGCo?

This is the group shot of the ISG Co bottles. I am rearranging my basement display and will post a picture of my current Kansas City collection soon. Scott

Andy Rieger, great grandson of Jacob Rieger, and a local restaurateur, Ryan Maybee, have started this company again last fall. Andy has a couple of bottles that have been given to him. There is a fellow out in Kansas who has several bottles from the Rieger company, some with full labels. With some research I think I can find the pictures from the Kansas City Star article with the pictures. Someone gave Andy a bottle that still has some liquor in it. These young men are within a couple of months of distilling their first batch. The plan to age the whiskey for 7 years. They also have a separate still for gin and cordials so they can sell fresh alcoholic products. Right now the whiskeys they use for the blend are from a distillery in Indiana.I would attempt to collect labeled bottles but they are three and four or more times the price of the embossed bottles. Kansas City whiskey distributors sold LOTS of whiskey in the western part of the United States. I wouldn't be surprised that some Kansas City beers and whiskeys were to be found in Idaho.Scott

Cool, I like the flasks. I wonder what the "1021" and the "1023" represent?

Again, sorry about the pictures. I haven't figured out how to shoot clear stuff yet. The numbers are 1021 and 1023 Main St, Kansas City, MO They are now part of the Commerce Bank parking garage. Check out J Rieger on facebook. Their distillery is in a modern building right next door to the old bottling plant from the Heim Brewery. Your can see into the bottling plant from the inside of the distillery.
