Sunday's crawlspace finds

Yesterday, I took a friend up on an offer to get into some houses that were slated for demolition.They had already been looted and salvaged but I was interested in the crawlspaces that were hopefully unexplored.Several were late 1800's and had full basements but a couple of earlier ones had crawls under the original (front) structure.The first few were empty,one had some pontil shards and broken mochaware but nothing whole.I finally found one that had some trash and ended up finding some ca. 1870 era stuff and some 90's stuff in another section.Several nice meds turned up as well as a couple stonewares and a cologne.

My favorite bottle find was another early local.Chappelear & Gallogly Druggists Zanesville,Ohio.

The coolest finds were in the way of tin cans.Oyster cans to be exact.I had dug the privies to this house about 2 years ago and dug one of my favorite bottles from one of them.I should not have been suprised when I found the cans in the crawlspace.They were found with the 1870 era bottles and would date them to the same period.
