Anyway, these are a few I picked up the other day. The bottles do need to be cleaned, (ink, barkeepers or clr?) but I'm thinking they will clean up very well. No damage really save the wolfe chip and the 2 meds. Any idea on worth and age of these bottles? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Happy digs!
Thanks for the input on the tealish ink Woody, much appreciated. I assumed it would be better to clean it and ditch the cork and have a clean bottle rather than an inky one with an original cork. Any idea of value of this guy? Thanks!
I use soap and water to clean up most of my bottles, along with various bottle brushes I have accumulated over the years.
Dawn dishwashing liquid works well for me.
I'd say you teal umbrella ink is worth around $100.00 or more, same with your Harrison's ink.
Thanks Woody, great help, I'll try the detergent first before turning to the stronger stuff. Thank you! Any ideas on the Wolfe or 12 sider anyone? geez I sound like a beggar... Thank you all for this site and your postings. I've learned so much here, and have had much fun reading, as a lurker, and now having had posted something. Thank you!
Base... Well I have a Kovel's book, and it seems the ink color listing is different than the other categories, and that slight variations such as heighth and which way the lip is rolled etc, can change an 8 sider from being worth 20 or 30 to like 500. I'm a bit confused. Is this green aqua or blue aqua? or just aqua and they don't list it.. is it worth much of much? is a pontil newer than an open pontil? Thanks again everyone for looking and bearing with this long post!
Woody, here's some pics of the cleared up ink. Looks more emerald now, but does have some tealish look too. Cleaned up really well with just dish detergent, thanks for the tip!
