Just got this jar for about a dime. There was a garage sale "fill a bag for $2" so I filled that bag till it was ready to burst. This jar was one of the items I got. Can anyone tell me more about this jar?
P.S. I don't have the lid for it, the people I bought it from had it sealed with a large cork.

The bottom of the jar. There's a lot of embossing here, some of it might not be readable in my picture. So:
It says "A. G. SMALLEY & CO./PATENTED/APRIL ?TH 1898/29 6/BOSTON & NEW YORK."

How common is "a common?" Unfortunately I don't have the space to collect jars as well as bottles, so what should I expect to get if I sell this jar?

Bottles R Us... It's not easy to collect bottles if you live in an apartment.

The pint books for 8-10 complete but See them all the time for a buck or so and thats with the lid.
