While in Vicksburg last week for their bottle show, I hit a few antique stores. I couldn't pass up this "Mr" varient. I don't recall seeing it before.

Hey fishnuts, thanks for posting that Diet Sunburst! Notice how the graphics are basically the same as the Diet Grapette! Good stuff!

So if I am following this correctly the "Mr's" - "Sunburst" - and "Grapetts" must all be from the same inbred family of bottlers ... namely "Grapette" ... right? And even though I personally consider them to be some of the most boring labels ever concieved, I can't help but wonder what their design department was thinking? Obviously they thought they had come up with a label design that would take the world by storm ... otherwise why put it on so many different brands. Oh wait ... I remember now! Wasn't that about the same time when crack cocaine started getting abused? I think it was. Okay, that explains it! I was beginning to think they actually believed they were being creative. And while I'm on a tangent here, I'm also wondering what the word 'bore' (as in boring a hole) has to do with the other 'bore' (as in when someone writes boring stuff like this)? Does that mean I am digging myself into a hole by expressing my meaningless opinions? Hmmm ... I guess I'll never have it all figured out!

Later,

Hey! I just figured it out! I did some research and discovered that the same people who came up with the word 'boring' also worked for the Grapette company. And they weren't on crack either. Instead it was something called "Dextrose" that was causing all the problems. Gee ... I'm glad I resolved this one. I was beginning to think it was me who was crazy.

Boring / ugly which-ever... not pleasing to the eye to say the least.

Thanks for the photo of Grapette Diet...never seen it out of Camden.
I too like the green Bott-l O. Also never seen from Camden.

Fortunate that B. T. Fooks's(pronounced as FOLKS) Grapette tasted so good. I had more than my share as a kid, in addition to the "ettes" :eek:range, lemons & limes. Like we all agree...dumb, plain bottle labels, tho. The Mister Cola always tasted a bit off to me, but hey, it was a lot of drink for the dime in that big ole bottle. Coke, Pepsi, RC were easily all better tasting.
