If it is the privy, it was last used in the middle 1840's.....It is a stone wall forming an open ended box, with the open end facing the house foundation. It is about 7' x 8' and about 10' away from the edge of the foundation. I rummaged around in it, and in this area of 100,000,000,000,000 rocks, there were none in the bottom I could find...All I found was pure black dirt. Mind you, I had no diggerer, so i only dug down about 10". Still, I would have found a rock I think if this was not a privy.

FYI, this old farmstead was moved down off the Mt behind my house (which was also moved down, and is the oldest house in my area) in the early 1840's...So i figure there was no reason to fill in the privys. I am told that the foundation I am speaking of was at one time the POST OFFICE! I am very stoked to go back and dig in earnest.

whataya think?
