Any thoughts on color and value for these two jars? Both are ground lips. Both seem to be unlisted in Redbook #9.

The MASON looks like a 1643 in RB 9 but they only have the pint listed in clear and aqua. This pint is most definately not either. They do have a quart listed in citron. Could this be citron instead of apple green? Value? Also could not find the Masons Patent listed with that particular base embossing.

I suppose one could call it Citron but it doesn't look like that to me. Lots of color names are ambiguous though. The 1858 is a Hero Fruit Jar Company jar, that's their patent date. Yours doesn't have the Hero Cross under the word MASON'S or on the reverse. I'm sure you will find out that the 1858 is pretty plentiful but the pint is a really desirable jar no matter what the color is called.

It looks like a good size piece is missing on the lip so color vs condition may be a wash if that's correct.

Yes Eric, There is a big lip chip for sure! Probably half inch or so. Just wondering what it might be worth. Not sure if I'll ever get rid of it. Came from the old town bottle digger who is long gone. He left a lot of yard sale bottles in the old shed. This was one of them. Thought it was a nice jar!

Ok. Being just a new member here I guess I don't get any comments from all you jar guys and gals. I have a Kant Krack lid that I use as an ashtray. Just saying.
